Our story

With the closure of Wilson Associates, design principal, Hilda Impey, decided that this was the time to create its own practice mentoring her team and to put her stamp on the industry that she has served for over 20 years.

Hilda seeks out and conceptualizes the varied stories that drive her exceptional interior design ethos. Impey’s unique approach toward the artistry and skill of design has created a new vista in this field. Hilda Impey Studio is founded upon the importance of the most up to date thinking in design futures. This is why Impey has been named as one of the region’s most significant players in the design community.

Mentored at Central Saint Martins College of Art & Design by prominent academics in the design field, such as Carole Collet, Catherine Harper and Sharon Baurley, Hilda’s style and method is now part of her DNA. She is an ambassador for disobedient and disruptive design, constantly searching for regenerative ideas in design.

Our method

Hilda is known within the world of interiors and in the hospitality industry for her exacting standards and for her inspired approach.

Hilda’s passion for interior design, profound knowledge of textiles, and awareness of trend forecasting brings with it a curiosity along with a people-centric process.

Hilda’s studio method is focussed on three main pillars; regenerative design, design anthropology and what she calls, the ‘Essence Lab’, where the studio researchers’ preoccupation with the intersection of materials, textures, and technology is given full flight.

“I like to approach any brief from a different and unexpected angle trying to find a unique aspect of each project or location creating by this long-term meaningful experiences.  The result is not only more curated, ethical, unique, and therefore distinctive, but addresses cultural and social views that gives the project a higher degree of relevance and appreciation.”

Our collaborations

We are proud to empower design collaborations – We value individual talent and have nurtured professional relationships during the years and when the right project is on board we like to work again together.

We open our powerhouse to talented colleagues in various fields for them to bring a diverse and unique approach to each project. For example, specialist lighting design, signage & wayfinding, branding, F&B concept creation, space planning, artwork consultancy, kitchen consultant, digital experiential design and procurement and cost estimate services.
